Peter Kirn - AugAdd comment Share Tweet deadmau5 is releasing the app he’s torture-tested in his live shows, OSC/PILOT. It supports sending and receiving Open Sound Control and MIDI messages over Wi-Fi and CoreMIDI inter-app communication and compatible hardware. The application allows to remote control and receive feedback from software and hardware that implement the OSC or MIDI protocols such as Apple Logic Pro/Express, Ableton Live, Renoise, Pure Data, Max/MSP/Jitter, Max for Live, OSCulator, VDMX, Resolume Avenue/Arena, Modul8, Plogue Bidule, NI Traktor, NI Reaktor, Quartz Composer, Supercollider, vvvv, Isadora and many others. The interface provides a number of customizable touch controls to send and receive messages:įaders / Rotary controls / Encoder controls / Push buttons / Toggle buttons / XY pads / Multi-faders / Multi-push / Multi-toggles / Multi-xy pads / LEDs / Labels / Time & battery displaysĪdditionally the program can send Accelerometer data. TouchOSC Bridge: This allows your iOS device to talk to your Mac which is actually running MainStage. The application comes with example layouts and completely custom layouts can be constructed using the free TouchOSC Editor application. Please see for more information, video demonstrations and download the free layout editor application for macOS, Windows and Linux and the free TouchOSC Bridge utility to easily control any MIDI-capable application on your computer.įun to tinker with, possibilities are endless I’m very amateur so my use of this app is not very complex or mind blowing. I’ve been having fun with this app on my iPad controlling softsynths on my laptop that have fiddly interfaces. The place this app outshines hardware controllers in that you can have practically unlimited configurations - something you just need 3 pages of 16 faders. I recommend reading the TouchOSC documentation on the website, it was very easy for me to install TouchOSC bridge and TouchOSC editor on my Mac. Add unlimited customization and interactivity. Sync TouchControl.touchosc to your iPhone and load the Interface. TouchOSC now has a fast scripting engine with deep access to all aspects of your control surface. ![]() ![]() You can wirelessly send templates to your iPad from your computer, I found this especially helpful when experimenting with different controller types - if I messed it up or decided to change something it was super easy to make the change in the editor and beam that over to the iPad instantaneously. The UI/Design of the app might be something that could be touched up in a future update. I hope to have fun this with my digitakt, maybe I’ll update this review to let you know how it goes.
